Glasgow Theatre Royal Washrooms

6 years ago

The Theatre Royal, based at the junction of Hope Street and Cowcadden Road, is the oldest theatre in Glasgow, opening in 1867.

The Glasgow based practice Page/Park first got involved on this scheme in the preparation of a conservation statement in 2009.  The Glasgow based practice felt that although the theatre had a spectacular auditorium, the overall user experience was in need of improvement.

Lovair was approached to work in the washrooms, to develop  bespoke Corian Vanity Units, up to lengths of 4.9 metres, which needed to fit within their surroundings, creating a large number of basin points, without crowding the washroom.  Created in the non standard Corian colour of 'Bisque', these units needed to be crafted in 2 pieces and seamlessly joined together on site.

A very interesting project for Lovair to work on, summed up by Eilidh Henderson, Architect at Page/Park;

"Lovair provided an excellent service throughout the project from design stage to completion on site.

We are delighted with the finish quality and the ability to adjust their standard designs to suit our requirements"
